Tornado confirmed as storm passes through you Palm Coast, Florida

By Alastair Jamieson and Justin Kirschner, NBC NewsOfficials on Sunday confirmed it was a tornado that caused "significant damage" to several houses and brought down power lines in Palm Coast, Florida, Saturday afternoon, officials said.A resident allegedly witnessed the roof being ripped out of his house, according to Cindy Lane, spokesman for the city of Palm Coast.A tornado warning was issued, but there were no reports of injuries.More than 2,000 homes were without power Saturday night.The national weather service on Sunday evening confirmed that a tornado landed in the Indian district trails on Saturday night.  25-75 Large tornado yard was given a preliminary rating of strong EF1, with evidence of winds of 110 mph, officials said.Six or seven homes suffered "major damage" in the severe storm, which attacked about 7 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, said Lane. Twenty-two houses had moderate damage and 142 were damaged partially, officials, he said.A holiday in the city parade was cancelled just before the tornado hit.Reports of waste in most areas as well as trees and power lines down there in much of the area, according to NBC affiliate in Orlando, WESH.Local resident Meredith Hollister told WESH that residents have a tornado warning on your cell phone, and took cover in the bathroom until the storm had passed.
